Name: (Ojo Caliente) “Spanish, 'hot spring,' and the present settlement is only the most recent to have been centered on the geothermal waters here; on the mesa above the village are the ruins of three ancient Tewa pueblos. The Tewas call the springs by a name that means 'emerald green,' because of the blue-green algae that grows in the hot water.”
